Cereus Jamacaru Cuddly Cactus
Cereus Jamacaru Cuddly Cactus
Cereus jamacaru, often nicknamed the Cuddly Cactus, is a striking columnar cactus with tall, sculptural growth and a softer, less-spiny appearance compared to many other cacti. Native to Brazil, this cactus develops thick, upright stems with bluish-green coloring and gentle ridges, making it a bold statement plant for modern interiors or sunny patios.
Despite its name, it still has small spines, but far fewer and less sharp than most cacti—giving it its playful nickname. Like most desert plants, it thrives on neglect, preferring bright, direct light and minimal watering. Over time, it can grow into an impressive specimen that adds both height and texture to any plant collection.
Care Level: Easy
Light: Bright light to full sun
Water: Water sparingly, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings
Pet Friendly: No – keep away from cats and dogs
With its sculptural form and unique reputation as the “gentle giant” of cacti, the Cuddly Cactus is a distinctive, low-maintenance addition to any home or collection.
