String of Dolphins 6” Hanging Basket
String of Dolphins 6” Hanging Basket
String of Dolphins is one of the most eye-catching trailing succulents available, prized for its perfectly curved, dolphin-shaped leaves that appear to leap along cascading stems. This rare hybrid, botanically known as Curio × peregrinus, is a cross between Curio rowleyanus (String of Pearls) and Curio articulatus, combining playful foliage with a soft, flowing growth habit.
Each plump, glossy leaf features a tiny “fin” and arched silhouette, giving the plant its unmistakable aquatic look. As it matures, vines can trail beautifully from hanging baskets, shelves, or plant stands, creating a living waterfall of dolphins. With proper care, mature plants may even produce small, lightly fragrant white blooms.
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sun can enhance growth, but harsh afternoon sun may scorch the leaves.
Water
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Like most trailing succulents, it is highly sensitive to overwatering. Ensure excellent drainage.
Soil
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix with added perlite or pumice to prevent root rot.
Temperature
Thrives in typical indoor temperatures and should be protected from frost.
Growth Habit
Trailing and cascading; ideal for hanging planters or high shelves where vines can drape freely.
String of Dolphins is perfect for collectors and anyone looking to add a whimsical, conversation-starting plant to their space. Its sculptural form and easy-care nature make it a standout addition to any succulent collection.
